Original Individual to Become an Actual Brand?

This year I am turning 30. And for my birthday present my mum is giving me something that I've considered doing on and off for years.

She's giving me the chance for my own clothing line.
And by that I mean that she's getting me a decent sewing/embroidery machine and some start up clothes.

I've always been interested in fashion and customised as well as created my own clothing. Since I was about 11 I've had my own logo.

Original
Individual

I branded my clothing Original Individual and designed the logo myself. Any clothing I've customised/made over the last two decades have this logo on them somewhere. Many times people have asked me to make them something or alter some of their own clothing. Many times people have asked why I don't sell my creations.

It used to be that I just didn't want people having what I have. I love owning something that nobody else does. Yes, I am materialistic. I've always known that.

Anyhow, as soon as my boxes arrive in the Islands I shall be starting to create and customise for the people of the Falklands. I just hope they want to buy what I produce.

In the mean time, I'll make a few more bags and purses. I'm also going to be experimenting with jewellery. and of course I'll have to look into the costs of a business start up, what I shall be selling items at and I definitely have to make I sure I fill out the appropriate forms to start a business in the Falkland Islands - not that it feels like I'm starting a business. It's more that I'm just doing what I do anyway and am now hoping to maybe make some money from it.

I'll be starting up a new blog I reckon. When I've got enough items to sell, so I can take photos and put them on the internet to show what I'm doing.

And I have to decide if I'm going to try to sell outside the Islands too. I need to think more about this.

Family Photo.

While I was away on holiday the family got together for a family photo.

When I decided I was going to the UK I managed to arrange it so my brother in Poland would also be in the UK with his family. Since mum has said for years now that she wants a family photograph I figured we could do this for her. Which we did.

So I met my nephew William and my niece Sophie for the first time. Sophie was a little unsure of me but William took to me straight away which thoroughly confused me as I'm not great with kids, especially when they're younger than 3. They scare me :I

With just a few tears and a lot of coaxing, we managed to get a fair few pictures done. Mum is really excited by them all. And I have now received my second email with photos attached. Looks like I'm going to have to get some printed.

My odd-bod family.

I'm Back!

So I've totally let things go over the last year or so. It's not even as though nothing has been happening and that's why I've not updated my blog.

In summary, my last year has gone like this:

Work
30th Anniversary of the Falklands War - very busy, lots of visitors, journalists, tv crews, etc.
Sir Rex Hunt died - again, work was busy.
The Referendum - I'll go more into this at a later date (not too much later though), suffice to say it was a very exciting time.
Baroness Margaret Thatcher died - again, very busy at work, especially since Stacy was away so I was all on my lonesome. I must say, producing a biographic programme on Lady Thatcher gave me such an insight into her as a person over just as a controversial political figure.
Members of the Legislative Assembly touring - these guys have been all over the place, specifically to South America to spread the word of the referendum. They word being YES! of course, yes to staying British.
NatWest Small Island Games - I shouldn't really add this since I was away on my jolly hols during this time.

Home
Loads of things going on in my personal life. Mother was rushed to hospital having nearly lost her sight. She wondered why her super duper migraine medication wasn't working, but it turned out she had Acute Closed Angled Glaucoma which basically was a day off burning her retinas. If this happened she would have also been deaf since she mostly lip reads and if she can't see then that can't happen. Gave me quite a scare, especially with being 8,000 miles away and unable to pop in to say 'hi, how you doing?'
My younger brother had a baby, or rather his ex did. But my baby brother is now a father and that also scares me. But I'm still 17 really.
The housework was finished, finally. Although we still don't have a kitchen floor. Instead A used that money to go on holiday. I approve of that choice.
I had an operation on my nose. A nasal resection. Basically a guy chiselled by nostrils thinner. So now I can breathe. Life is so much better now. I sleep throughout the night, I have very rare headaches now (instead of every few days) and I've only had one migraine since February. I love my new breathing ability. Of course I do want to go get this mucus reduction thing done as that will also help me. Oh, and speak better on the radio for work too!
My friend from the UK came for a visit to the Falklands. It was great and very flattering to realise someone is willing to save and spend that much money to fly thousands of miles to spend two weeks with me. I'll post a few photos soon.
I managed to save enough money to go on an epic holiday. More about that later, as I'll be setting up a new blog just for my holiday. Which was amazing!
My younger brother had to go to hospital due to his mental health issues. Also very scary to hear about. Luckily we're a strong family and we deal with these issues by being very blase about what's going on. Not to say it doesn't effect us, we just don't allow it to consume our every moment, and of course we always have to make the most innapropriate jokes about the many health issues in the family. It's what we do :)
And as has been mentioned a few time...I went on holiday! For the first time in about five or six years and left the Falklands for the first time since I arrived in January 2010. Like I said, I shall be blogging all about that.

So now I shall go, do some work and then alter the look of my blog because I've decided I need to make it look better.
